The SeaLord

It is strange what enters one's mind as death is near.

The sound of the river was always a comfort to me, but as the sun was setting on the last day of my life, I realized the river commanded more terror than awe.

As I held my net poised for my next cast, the beast arose. I remember only flashes of light reflected off a huge dome, then the impossibly large beast rising from the depths of the great river. A grasping tail larger than the greatest of trees. A chitinous shell dwarfing all i saw. The ripe stink of fear flowing from my pores. For a moment, I cast my gaze upon the ocean, and furrowing my brow, cursed the lords of the deep for my inescapable fate. Then the beast rose. Standing upon its hind legs it screamed, and as it turned it's gaze to me the waters surged forth, and I remembered an old lesson about water, how it gives life, but can also take it from the unwary...

Process: pencil drawing I did that I colored with gimp freeware and added in a background from a quick photo I took and manipulated as well with gimp freeware. I started out as usual not having a clue what i was drawing and just keep expanding till i figure it out, in this case I ended up going with a side idea i got from one of my earlier rift entries
